Post it
Say what needs doing, your town, when, and what it pays. If you can't pay, post it as Help for free. If you're the one with the skill, post what you can do.

Neighbors send a note
Somebody who can do it taps "I can do it" and writes a line or two. Only you see their notes. They never see each other's.

You pick one
When you pick, the two of you see each other's contact line, the way you each wrote it. Nobody else gets it. The post shows Taken.

Settle up between you
Cash, a check, an app, whatever you two agree on. OddlyJobs never touches the money and never takes a cut.

Mark it done
The neighbor who did the job gets a done job on their page. That's how trust builds here: real jobs for real neighbors, not stars.
Three kinds of posts
Paid job. You need something done and you'll pay. Say the amount or a range so nobody wastes a trip.
Help for free. You need a hand and can't pay right now. No shame in it. Folks and churches who want to help look for these.
I can do this. You're offering what you do. Neighbors send you a note, you accept the ones you want, and you swap contact lines.
A few rules of the road
- Agree on the price and the job in writing, even a text.
- Meet in daylight and tell someone where you'll be.
- Never pay a stranger up front for materials.
- The $500 line: in South Carolina, construction-type repair work over $500 in labor and materials generally needs a registered or licensed contractor. For anything that size, check the license with SC LLR (their rules).
- OddlyJobs doesn't run background checks. A done job is a record of real work, not a guarantee.
